Education and Experience
Over the past 4 years, the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation has established itself as an essential educational resource with local, regional, and international reach.

  • Established partnerships with Department of Education  created social studies units and lesson material for Delaware s statewide curriculum
  • Over 5,800 students of all ages have participated in ship and shipyard education programs in the last two years.
  • Active research collaborations with world-class institutions Swedens Vasa Museum, National Historical Museum, and Deep Sea Productions; New Netherland Institute; University of Delaware
  • Active partnerships with Social Studies Coalition of DE, UDs Center for Teacher Education, Delaware Geographic Alliance, and Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship
  • Developed the KNF Lecture Series (600+ attendees estimated for 2012)
  • Established partnership with Department of Education created social studies units and lesson material for Delaware s statewide curriculum

Thinking Chronologically History Grade  4 adopted in 170 classrooms reaching 3400 students; Launched 2010-11

Thinking Economicallym Economics Grade 5 adopted in 250 classrooms reaching approx 5,000 students; Launched in 2011-2012

Thinking Geographically Geography Grade 5: Under Development

  • Active partnerships: Social Studies Coalition of DE, UDs Center for Teacher Education, Delaware Geographic Alliance, and Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship
