Volunteer hours: You will need to put in 40 hours of volunteer time to help maintain the ship each year before you are eligible to sail.  We recommend that you start putting in some volunteer hours in November/December/early January if you can because January through April you will be very busy with class and studying!  To get started, please e-mail Captain Sharon at captainsharon@kalmarnyckel.org  She will help you get started.  We recommend that you plan on coming on Saturday or Sunday for your first few times, but after a few weekend days, you are welcome to come any day of the week.  We do maintenance 7 days a week!  You'll need to bring your four-page volunteer application to your first day of volunteering, and give it to Capt. Sharon or her staff.

This year's volunteer year begins on: November 1, 2017.   This means you can start your volunteer hours for the 2018 sailing season any time after that! Be sure to arrange with Capt. Sharon your first volunteer day (if you come before class begins) and bring your forms.
