Event Volunteers

Volunteering with the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation is a great way to get involved in our community, work with children and the public, and learn more about our ship, exhibits, and programs.

Each year the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation hosts several large-scale public events that are open to the community and designed for both children and adults of all ages. Volunteers are needed to help staff these events such as managing games and crafts, parking, welcoming visitors, and running the concession stations. We are always seeking new volunteers to lend a hand.

Become An Event Volunteer

Volunteering for an event is a great way to get to know more about our organization and meet new people who enjoy community service. Annual events include our Underground Railroad Day, LEGO™Shipbuilding Day, Captain Kidd's Pirate Day and Halloween Ghost Ship Day. Please note that we have a more formal training process to volunteer as an educator or to join our volunteer sailing crew.

If you are interested in volunteering for a special event, please sign up in advance. We will contact you when we are in the planning stages for these and other events. We ask volunteers to sign up for half day or a full day shifts. Please contact us (by email) with questions or call our office at 302.429.7447
