Learn about the five different modes of transportation for Wilmington’s Underground Railroad network. Free crafts, partner activities, prizes and tours of the Copeland Maritime Center and Fort Christina Park. Free admission & parking.
HENRY “Box” BROWN is based on a true story about an enslaved man who shipped himself in a crate from Richmond, VA to Philadelphia, PA. Performed by actor historian Keith Henley of The American Historical Theatre. Recommended for ages 7+, the show runs 30 minutes plus 15 minutes for questions.
From 1:30-4:30pm explore and enjoy activities for all ages.
- Crafts, kids’ prizes, and partner activities for all ages
- Free tours of the Copeland Maritime Center including model ship exhibits
- Free guided walking tours of neighboring Fort Christina Park where freedom seekers embarked on boats and met "conductors"with horses and carriages. Fort Christina Park is on the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom (the same site where Kalmar Nyckel landed in 1638). Weather dependent.
